University of Minnesota Office of Discovery and Translation (ODAT)
ODAT aims to improve health care by accelerating discoveries into practice. As part of this mission, ODAT supports the development of pediatric medical devices with the ultimate objective of improving pediatric patient outcomes and quality of life through technology-driven medical solutions.
The PDIC/ODAT partnership includes funding programs that engage University of Minnesota faculty, community members such as patients, families and their caregivers, as well as industry partners. ODAT provides program infrastructure and funding support for three collaborative programs under the Pediatric Health Innovation Initiative.
Southwest Pediatric Device Innovation Consortium (SWPDC)
SWPDC is a multi-institutional consortium that is supported by an FDA P50 grant, anchored by Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and is dedicated to improving children’s health by supporting pediatric device innovators to create novel pediatric medical devices with local, regional, and national institutional and innovation partners. Beginning in 2023, the University of Minnesota PDIC is part of the SWPDC.
